ruby stock rear locker stays engaged
« on: 12/ 6/09 - 01:18AM »
:102:2004 ruby stock rear locker stays engaged. The locker indicators say it is off.
All gears and all transfer ranges it is locked.
We then routed the pumps and air lines all to the engine bay- still locked.
Pulled air line still engaged.
Took out the axle shafts they were good, took out the locker and cleaned it all up added new dif fluid still the same problem? Didnt see anything broken or out of place, but we are not sure what to look for.
What are the indicaters that a ruby stock locker is bad?

sounds like it could be the diff cover. is it stock or aftermarket. The clearance for the internal parts that engage the locker is VERY close. If you have an aftermarket cover or a dented stock cover it that doesn't allow it to clear it can keep it from engaging or disengaging. You'll need to pull the cover and look at the inside to see if there are any rub marks or scarring on it. If so, then there is the problem. If it is engaged and working then it's not bad. If it's not the pump or lines, then it has to be either the switch or the fuse under the hood could have something to do with it.
