im wanting to buy a 9mm and i heard about High Point, they are under $200 new. does anybody have any experiance with these? if so let me know. im gonna try to pick one up in the next few weeks.

I HAD ONE FOR A LITTLE WHILE.  THEY LOOK LIKE SOMETHING FROM ROBOCOP.  I KNOW SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE THEM AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL MINE WAS ACTUALLY VERY ACCURATE.  I HOWEVER WOULD NOT RECOMEND IT FOR A DEFENSE WEAPON.

why wouldnt you use it for defence use? that will be its main use.

I DON'T KNOW IT'S JUST ME I GUESS I WOULD JUST RATHER TRUST MY LIFE TO A NICER GUN  I HAVE A SPRINGFIELD XD 40 AND A RUGER SR9.  IF A HIGH POINT IS WHAT YOU WANT GO FOR IT THOUGH CAUSE IF IT DOES JAM ON YOU THEY ARE SO HEAVY YOU CAN PISTOL WHIP EM OR THROW IT :)

Well I have never owned a High Point, but I would still not recommend them. I have owned and used several defense pistols, Glock 19c, H&K USP, Sig Sauer, S&W 686 (too heavy for carry), S&W Sigma (not recommended), Lorcin .380 (first gun was cheap and is junk), and I currently use Springfield XD40. Firearms are alot like Jeeps, don't go cheap you'll regret it. But you also don't have to buy the most expensive. My H&K was an awesome handgun, accurate and reliable. My XD40 is more carryable, more accurate (yea surprised me too), and just as reliable at half the cost.

That XD from Springfield Armory looks pretty nice.  Would you suggest a dealer around here for them?
