I noticed that most of the stuff we buy for our jeeps are over priced. But then the time to develop and make one off parts can be extreme. I refuse to pay someone $250 for stainless clevis mounts so I designed and made my own. The material is 304/304L stainless steel.
The CAD work didn't take but an hour or so (no image), then a bit of time to make a fixture (no image).
Below are the parts being cutout in the mill. It's actually cutting the pocket which is .300" in depth.

Here you can see the one piece sitting in the mount to give you an idea of what I had in mind.

Here is the part (not yet welded) sitting on the bumper.

Here is a close up of the mount after the install. Pretty decent TIG weld here.

There was a flaw in my final product, but I doubt anyone would ever notice. Functionally they will work just fine. I did take care so that there will be no molecular intrusion on to the stainless. The mounts will last longer than the jeep itself. :15:

Whats the next Fab. project??

Well I would like a shotgun mount, and a nice mount for the farm jack. Christmas is here and time is valuable, so it will be a while.
