Brake Pads
« on: 03/31/08 - 01:11PM »
It's time for some new pads on the Rubicon... Of course I will not be happy with the standard OEM pads.. So I am wondering what is out there in the line of Hi performance break pads for Jeep

Brand? places to get? link?

Thanks

TRY PRICING THE TURE FACTORY BRAKE PADS

I WAS SHOCKED, FOR MY 05 THE FRT PADS WERE $158.00
THEY OFFERED A V-LINE PAD THAT WAS $56.70

I HAVE ALWAYS HAD THE BEST LUCK WITH FACTORY PADS.

roflmbo Brian!

Really I just want the best brake pads you can get... always gotta have the best.  I don't like settling for second best.

I seen an ad in JP for these guys, but haven't heard anything about them.  http://hawkperformance.com

Does anyone know of a brake pad shootout posted up anywhere .. like they do with the tire carriers?

If they scare you that much, just buy the $50 ceramic ones and replace them annually.

The ones from Hawk Performance for my jeep are $65/set for a composite material from both summit and tirerack.  The reviews are pretty good on them...
They do offer a ceramic pad ... though they are not as good as the High Performance pads.

Looks like $130 for those...

...on with my research.

Pirate has a good tech article on brakes.  They have a section on pads that might giver a better idea what to look for.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/Brakes/

Here is an article for upgrading calipers etc., this is on an XJ, but says it applies to TJs too.

I meant the ceramic ones from O'reily's, not those other ones.

Great article on pirate... thanks Austin

This seems to be a great package deal on 4 slotted and cross drilled rotors & pads all the way around for $243.00
Would definitely be an decent upgrade from oem rotors and pads

the only time you need slot & drilled rotors. is if you are going raceing.all they do is let the gas escape on hard braking,at high speed your jeep will not know the dif.

Thanks Larry... but don't they also cool down alot faster, have more breaking power, increase pad to rotor contact, and work better in wet weather and are generally better than standard rotors? That just all the stuff I've read about them.
