I bought a 91 YJ some time ago and have been slowly working on wiring up a 350 TBI motor. I bought the YJ without any wiring underneath the hood. the bulkhead harness missing, and all wires and fuses/relays etc. I purchased a YJ harness from ebay that i have connected now to a new optima red top. I used alldatadiy to confirm the pins on the harness and the bulkhead match and are correct. When I turn the key nothing is happening. I have replaced the column mounted ignition switch and still nothing. I check for power at the large red wire on the ignition switch plug and there is no power there and should be power there constantly. All fuses are good under hood and under dash. What is the next thing to check to see why I an not getting power at the ignition switch?

Thanks in advance for any help. WIring is far from my favorite task

Wish I knew how to help on this one. A few people in the club have done this work so I'm sure they'll post up something soon.
-
Did you figure this out? I could go out and look at mine to see what you have going. I have TBI in mine but don't remember checking the pin's to what is hot and what is not.
-
what year did the harness come from because in 92 they changed the wire harness
-
Sorry I've been on vacation and haven't had a chance to write back. I am not sure of the year of the harness but believe it to be From a 91. The pinouts from alldatadiy.com were almost an exact match. I went through an eBay harness at first from a newer Yj and it was completely different so i got this one locally. Any advice is appreciated.

where are you located im in Spokane, mo.
-
Southwest Springfield. Near James river and Kansas expressway
-
have you hooked up diagnostic computer to check if you are getting
cam and crank signal
-
do u have facebook
-
I haven't hooked up diagnostics cause the engine wiring isn't hooked up to anything. I don't have anything happening at the key. No power at the ignition switch. It makes me wonder if I have a problem in the harness or something isn't right with the under dash fuses/wiring etc. I don't have a Facebook account
-
DO YOU HAVE power at the PDC https://www.facebook.com/
-
I have power at the pdc and at the engine side of the firewall plug. I don't have power at the hot side of the column mounted ignition switch but all fuses are good. That's where I am puzzled
-
do you have wiring diagram from alldata pro
-
is it 4 or 6 cylinder harness
-
maybe we can have a jeep day and put heads together to figure it out
-
That would be awesome I will pm you my number. Thanks
-
If you and Kurt have problems figuring it out let me know. When you get it running and if you need it - I can hook a laptop thru the OBD port and see if you have any sensor problems or anything.
Sounds like you have it handled tho.

Thanks. I have to figure out how why I'm not getting power at the ignition switch first, and I'm not really sure why.
