my transfercase literaly blew up

trans case literally blew up. mine is a 05 tj nothin fancy but real nice...26k drivin down the highway and the trans case explodes. I think i know why, and its just out warranty. but that isnt y im posting this... how far back can i go to get a tans case,231 auto and what is the difference in the tj years. I understand they had a trans Case switch around 2000?

Call John at Johns 4x4 in Billings [417-744-2721]. He more than likely will have one.

Your 05 didn't have the 8yr/80,000 mile powertrain warranty?  Or whatever they were offereing back then.
I'd put something funny here, but you probably wouldn't get it anyway...

05's have the 7/70,000 so.. yes it is still under warranty, take it to the Jeep Dealer.... unless you bought it used and did not transfer the warranty.

calling john back in the morning. im the second owner but i didnt transfer the 7 70... didnt know. did get the 3 36 wich expired a few months ago. i was wandering more about the diffrences in the tj trans cases what year they changed and what changed about them

I believe all TJ's are 231 except the Rubicons which have the 241, you might want to verify that with the dealer or Johns would know.

I know the part # for SYE didn't change in those years.  I believe all you need is a 231J that is 23 spline input.
