I have a 99 XJ that is dieing intemittenly. There is no real pattern to it, sometimes it will not want to start at all, sometimes it will die going down the highway, sometimes it will die while idling. Most of the time it will start right back up after dieing. I noticed that when it starts to die the tach will go to 0 but the engine is still turning becouse sometimes i can give it some peddle and it will refire. I also noticed if it does die it will not restart until the service engine soon light comes on. I have not started replacing parts yet but my first guess would be a CPS. Any tips or ideas?
