That was bad but not uncommon.  When I go to the Insurance Auto Auctions you'll see groups from S. of the Border buy 2 junkers, 1 that runs and 1 that is "towable".  You'll then see them pull a wrecked 1 ton behind a wrecked minivan with what is not even a real tow bar.  Kinda scary.
