Axle bearing and retainer pressing
« on: 07/ 4/07 - 03:39AM »
I have a leaky rear axle seal that I am in the process of replacing.

I have the axle out; old seal, bearing, and retainer I dremmeled off. Shaft is  cleaned prepped and ready for the new seal, bearing and retainer... However I have no way and no tricks up my sleeve to press them onto the shaft. Does anyone have the ability to do this? Can you tell me where I would get this done? OR share a shadetree mechanic tip so I can do it myself... ?

Thanks.

You might try Kevin at 4Wheelers Supply.  I think he posted something about pressing bearings at his shop.

I'd put something funny here, but you probably wouldn't get it anyway...

Thanks Keith.. yes he can do pressing over there. That's good to know. However, by the time I am done buying bearings, seals, and retainers... Im going to be into close to $150, so I'm upgrading to Superiors.  Thanks to Kevin at 4ws.com for a great price.

You have to love an upgrade that proves financially sensible.
