So I was driving the other day, all was fine and as I'm trying to back out of a parking spot, no reverse! I've got an 88 wrangler 4.2 , 5 speed man. I guess I'll drain fluid and replace and try that, what else could it be?
-
your 5th gear fell off inside the tranny... I don't think a fluid change will help.
-
So do I need to drop the tranny and fix or is it not fixable?
-
Totally rebuildable. just don't drive it as the loose parts can be caught between other moving parts and totally destroy it.
Have a great week,
Jesse

Ok, I appreciate it man. I let u know how it turns out.

well I'm happy to announce that I have had my trans. problem fixed. It had to be replaced, as well as the clutch plate and slave cylinder etc. John's out at Billings did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone.

what did they charge ya for it all if ya don't mind me asking. I will probly do it myself, but if it's worth the drive and time, I might get it done by a mech.

They charged $1400 for it all. They did great work and were quick. I thought it was worth it. Good luck!
