September Trail Ride & Camping @ SMORR
« on: 07/13/12 - 12:18AM »
Well it's time to plan our fall camping and jeeping weekend at SMORR.  As requested by the group at Flat Nasty we are going to do this towards the end of Sept.  Looks like 21-23, the ranch is open and a group of land cruisers will be there.

Figure on wheeling Saturday and maybe an after dinner run as well.
Sunday is going to be girls drive day!  So gentlemen we'll all have to try on that other seat for a change.

The weather should be great for that weekend, really looking forward to this run! Hopefully we can have a big turnout and break up into 3-4 groups so we can help rescue the land cruisers!  >:D Just Kidding!

I know the feeling.  I sheared 2 of 3 studs in my passenger high steer arm.  The knuckle is proving difficult to get off the axle.

Larry I may need to borrow it after all.... mine had a catastrophic failure and can't find a replacement part.

Broke 2 of 3 high steer arm studs on passenger side knuckle.  When heated knuckle around studs to remove them cooked the upper ball joint.  Turns out the ball joint had been misinstalled a decade ago or so and as it was in crooked when being pressed out the knuckle FAILED.  My knuckle is now 1" shorter overall then it should be.

The knuckle is also apparently one that just barely exists.  It's only found on 1978-1979 Ford F150's ordered with the SUPERCAB option.  According to pirate only 7000 units total produced.  So it's looking like either a dana 60, Reid knuckles, or convert to chevy flat tops.

So who is going to hand over the keys on Sunday and let a female drive their rig? I know I'm planning on it.

Judy's in!  She's anxious to punish the '60's'  (After she blew up the rear pinion shaft in our old 44 in Hot Springs a couple of years ago, I'm trying to make our Jeep more bullet/wife proof!).
Come on guys, it'll be fun sightseeing from the right seat (but you'll have to keep your eyes open!)
