FLEX?
« on: 05/26/06 - 09:17PM »
when i hit the RTI ramp at Heritage last weekend i got all kinds of flex going forward. but, when i backed up my rear coils didnt want to compress, just the fronts.

i have a 2in BB and all adjustable arms. im wondering if i make some longer rear sway bar links if i could get some more flex out of it.

thanks Brian

make some qd's for your rear sway bar and let it flex, the swaybar henders your flex by trying to control the body roll

i thought about that too, but wouldnt that be too much for sidehilling and really off camber trails.

yes and no, you have to have a compromise. do you want more flex and lose a little stability, also a change to some better shocks that are suited for offroading versus the stockers.

everything is a comprimise.

AT THE JAMBOREE, WE WHEELED WITH A RUBI WITH LONG ARM LIFT AND HE HAD REMOVED BOTH FRONT AND REAR SWAY BARS, AND THIS WAS HIS WIFES DAILY DRIVER.  BRAVER THEN ME, BUT HE DID WHEEL PRETTY GOOD.

I have removed the rear sway bars on both of the XJ's I have had. I never had any problems out of either.

Unless its actually giving you trouble on the trail, I wouldn't worry about it.

Did you buy your shocks before or after lift?  Do you know if they extend any longer than the stock ones?
