Computer Builds
« on: 08/24/06 - 12:46PM »
Has anyone else built their own computer? I built mine late last year. I wanted an ultimate gaming machine as well as something that could handle the kind of work I do with graphics, websites, video and all.

Im running:

Case             : Antec LifeStyle SONATA II Piano Black Steel ATX
MotherBoard  : Asus Premium 939 Socket Motherboard
PowerSupply  : COOLMAX "SLI" CXI-600B ATX v2.01 600W Power Supply
2 Video Cards: DUAL Nvidia GT7800GT's in SLI mode.
Processor       : AMD Athlon 64 4000+ ClawHammer 2000MHz HT Socket 939 (equivlant to a 3.5 Pentium 4)
Hard Drive     : Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3250823AS 250GB
Key&Mouse    : Logitech MX3000 2-Tone USB + PS/2 RF Wireless
RAM              : 2GB Kit Corsair TWINX2048-3500LLPRO DDR433 XMS3500
TV Card         : Hauppauge WinTV USB 2.0 PVR-USB
Dual Monitors  : SAMSUNG 940b-Black Black 19" 8ms LCD Monitor

Future Mods:  Dual 10,000RPM Raptor drives in a RAID setup.

I have my system slightly overclocked and my last 3DMark05 Benchmark score was 15,558.  Not too shabby.  :agree:

I've build the last several of mine.  Mine's nothing to talk about now as I made it about 3 yrs ago.  When I took my gamming to the tv it really lessened the need to make a new one each year as I had been.  If I got a video camera then I'd need to to some upgrades but as it stands now the most stressful thing is when I build Photoshows and burn them to a dvd.

BTW we went out and gor a Canon Rebel XT camera.  Your great looking pics caused all that.  We're still trying to figure it all out, been taking pics all over.  Still getting a lot of blurry ones but some great ones to boot.

That's a sweet camera... I'm jealous.

Takes alot of practice with the digitals to take non blurry pictures, they are picky. A tripod is a must... but not much use on a trail ride! :agree:
