Power steering on a CJ
« on: 05/18/08 - 11:43PM »
Does anyone know the parts I need or have the parts for sale? I have a 1976 CJ5 258, with manual steering. I want to put power steering on it. The Jeep has a 4" lift on it, so I will need a drop arm. Thanks everyone!

in doing my 4.0 swap i read that a cj manual steering shaft has the same spline as a yj or xj power steering gear.  if this is correct you would just need the steering gear and pump.  a yj or xj gear will bolt to your cj gear bracket.  i currently have an xj gear mounted to mine.  search it @ cjoffroad.com in the 4.0 swap section.  you'll need a cj pump to get your belt to stay aliened.  or a cj pump mounting bracket and pulley.  plus, a little spacing until the belt is aliened.
