What's the hogdaddy of Jeep batteries?
« on: 02/24/09 - 01:52PM »
Alright, time for a new battery for Ruby Lee; she wouldn't start this morning... The factory battery has served me almost 4 years now but nary more shall it crank the straight 6.

Ok, so I've heard red top, yellow top blah blah. Who has what and why is it the battery to get??

Thanks in advance.

I'd second Yellows, red quality has dropped a lot in recent years.  O'Reilly's seems the best as far as warrantying them out.

I heard Pep Boys was good too on warrenty.  When I bought my Red Top they were the cheapest around.
I'd put something funny here, but you probably wouldn't get it anyway...

CHECK WITH INTERSTATE BATTERY ON KEARNEY. 831-3372
SOMETIMES THEY HAVE SOME GOOD SPECIALS ON BATTEIES.
ALSO, THEY MIGHT HAVE A RED OR YELLOW TOP THAT HAS BEEN SITTING ON THE SHELF FOR A YEAR OR SO FOR SOME BIG SAVINGS.

YELLOW TOP IS THE BEST

Yellow top.  Blue is best for deep cycle, can take the most low drain and recharges.  Red is strongest cranking but can't take as many recharges.  Yellow is in the middle and best for starting cranks and recharges with "normal" (non-extensive) winch use.
ud is good

St. John's runs nothing but yellow tops in the ambulances & we could afford solid gold batteries.  I wouldn't own another red top if it came with a free Hummer.....  :icon_pimp:
