YJ FI swap or just swap out engines????
« on: 02/26/09 - 11:39AM »
Not sure how hard it is, if you get all the parts you need. ie The head, all fuel injection parts like the fuel rail, lines and such, the fuel pump may need changed, here are a couple EXPENSIVE kits.

I'm thinking buy a 2004 or so engine and tranny with the computer and wiring for about the same or less money, certainly less than the $2000 one.
This is a good Tech post I'll put up and see what the fella's say.

yeah I beleive your gunna have to swap out your pumps due to the carb. pumps pressure output(i think 4-8 psi), the fi pump will prolly be 40-60psi. Correct me if im wrong. As far as a new engine?, the possibilities are endless. What 2004 engine? chevy Jeep Ford etc...Im sure somebody else will chime in.  Good luck with whatever you choose

It would be easiest to buy a salvage vehicle and swap the entire motor/trans. That way you have everything you need and can see how it all goes together.  When you're done sell the scrap.

No tuned weber will ever offer the performance of propane offroad Dick.

I know, but it's $200 as opposed to $1k-$3k for the other set ups.

Well if you order a new weber it's a lot higher same as a propane kit.  If you piece your own propane together can be had for about $500.  Or could last time I did it.

What is "propane offroad Dick?"  I mean I'm all for performance but that just sounds wrong.  I can hear it now:  "wow, that truck is badass"  Yeah, thats the new propane offroad Dick.  It was expensive but it sure runs.  or is that drips??   >:D
