Title: close camping?
Post by: TJ-2thousand on 08/27/07 - 04:16AM
so i just found out a friend of mine has never been camping. i want to take her somewhere close. what is there that is close. and preferably near a river, or something.

can you camp at Buisick (sp)? any places at chadwick? i dont really like camping at a site, where other people are. so i kinda want a place in the woods by ourselves.

thanks
B

I've camped at Busiek before.  It was years ago, like 20+ though.

I'll ask around and see.  Most places I know are private property off of a river.

yes you can camp at Busik, you have to go to the conservation dept and get a permit.  its like $7 for the permit and you get to camp right there by the river.

heres the link to some info:

http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/applications/moatlas/AreaSummaryPage.aspx?txtAreaID=8109&txtAreaNm=busik&txtCounty=&txtRegion=Southwest&txtUserID=guest&txtDivision=

when you take the exit and go down the hill stay to the left and the camping is that way. the camping is on the river.

the range is supposed to close at sunset... but I think there is only one conservation agent enforcing anything down there... he probably called it an early day.

they were at the range till about 130. an agent pulled in to the lot and shined his spot light down towards us at about 1 am.

Thanks for the info, I was trying to decide wether to go camping saturday night or wheeling at Seymour sunday, then I thought of camping out there.  They still have primitive camping out there, correct?  Anyone going out this weekend?
