Quick Disconnects
« on: 01/ 8/08 - 07:25PM »
I was curious if anyone has built their own quick disconnects or knew how to build some? Since my jeep is still a daily driver and in a few days might buy some Zboxes and revolver shackles. If i add on the shackles will i need to run a sway bar, i am currently not running it but after the install iam asumming i will need to. Any help would be appreciated or if you have pics of your disconnects.
                                    Thanks, Alex

i made some for my TJ before i got a JKS disco. i just replaced the lower link bolt with a bar that had holes in it, keep it together with a big pin.

the write up can be found here:http://www.rockcrawler.com/techreports/budgetdisconnects/index.htm

I've driven jeeps with revolvers on the street with no sway bars.  They drive fine.  Mine were even Spring over as well which makes them a little more erratic.  It will drive fine without them in my opinion.  Personally I'd never run sway bars or trac bars on a YJ.

have a set on my TJ now I have 2"spacer 1" BL-still have all stock suspension.

had them on about 3 weeks with no issue, wheeled once and they came off and went back on no problem. I plan to uy "real" quick disco's but these will do fine for now.

There is a big difference between a TJ without sway bars and YJ's.  Take them off.
I cut sheetmetal for free.  It's fixing it that get's expensive.

I am sure the compression or roll in a turn from a YJ vs TJ is a huge dif.
