Title: Yota solid axel conversion
Post by: Deano on 02/11/07 - 06:53PM
I am a jeeper through and through, but a friend and i are are doing a solid axel conversion on a 1986 Toyota 4-Runner and since its in my garage I thought I would tell ya about it. We are getting rid of the standard IFS in the front and putting a solid axel in. This project so far is the biggest I have yet to do. So far we have got rid of all IFS parts, bump stops, torsion bars, steering, and other brackets off the frame with the help of a plasma cutter. We have a 5 inch lift kit, links, axel truss, ring gear armor, 6 shooter knuckles, high steer links, shock hoops, 5150s,and new drive shaft to put on. In the new third member and rear we have already put 5;29 gears and lockers. Im sure Im leaving something out and I will have pics in the next day or so.

Are you going to convert so you can run the IFS brakes on the solid axle?

Stock for now but knowing him he will very soon. The front is done and in!! Now he is putting the stance back in the back but that takes some hacking also. I will post pics soon!!!
