Jeep gear ratio identification
« on: 01/ 9/07 - 09:41PM »
I am wondering how to know what gear ratio my Jeep Wrangler has. It is a 1994 SE with a manual transmission.  The previous owner upgraded to 32" tires and did not replace the speedometer gear to match.  I just need to know what gear ratio my differential is.  I tried looking at the stamp on the differential and there is not clear indication of what the gear ratio is.  I found a chart online that displays different RPM's at with different size tires in 4th gear @65MPH.  With my jeep in 4th gear @65MPH (according to my incorrect speedometer) the RPM's were approx. 2400.  With my actual speed @65MPH the RPM's are a little over 2000.  Sorry for the long winded post.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
