Suspension Upgrade
« on: 09/24/13 - 11:37AM »
New to the Forum and I am embarking on rebuilding my 1980 CJ5. Before I remove the body I need to make a few decisions.

1) I want to improve the ride of my jeep. I think new springs alone will do that considering it is 33 years old. However I would like to put a minimal lift on it for larger tire clearance. This jeep will be mostly road driven so I want as smooth and stable of a chassis as I can get. Of course I don't want to spend a fortune but would like some opinions on types and brands of lifts experienced CJ jeep rebuliders would recommend.

2) I am forced to replace the body tub. Barring anyone locally having a tub that will fit mine I will be replacing with most likely fiberglass. If there is one of those locally I would be happy to buy it. If I must buy a new one I would appreciate any opinions in that regard as well.

3) Anything I should improve while the body is off on the chassis?

Thanks in advance for any time you spend to address my decisions.
