alternator trouble........

258 straight six.......two wires come off the alternator....one wire goes to the power for the alternator.....red wire....where does the white wire go......it got cut and never got re-connected.....some help would be appreciated.........

One wire should go to the battery, or constant hot source. The other wire should go to a keyd hot source.
