Ext. WheelBase, Bodylift, Comp. cut & More
« on: 09/21/05 - 01:48PM »
I bought one of those 1:18 scale rock crawlers. I can't afford the biggrt one so this well have to do. I've had it for 1 day. I have already added 1/2in to the wheel base, by moving the rear axle back. This aloud the axle to clear all the arms for better flex. I also added a 1/2 body lift. to help clear the rear tires. I removed the springs from the front shocks and  removed the shocks in the rear. All this in the first 3 hrs of playing with it. Heres some pics. Just click on my picture page at the bottom of this post. Man this thing can flex. Next it's the paint and wheels.

Go to RC Crawler.com for more stuff to do to yours.  You have a good start there!

Well my 1:18th Jeep steering broke. So I took it back to Wal-Mart and they replaced it even after I cut the body on it. So I have a new one now. This time I dove tailed the rear end, removed the rear shocks and replaced them with little chains to keep the axle from wrapping and moving forward. Then I moved the rear axle back 1 1/4. Fab the rear part of the cage. I also cut 4 coils off the front coils so it would sit lower and flex better. Next step will be to do a belly up on it. I have already moved the battery up under the hood. And I made skid plate already. After that I wheel paint the whole thing. If you would like to see what I have done click on the link below.

I have finally got me a 1/6th Jeep. I even have 2 chassis. I'm lacking tires but will buy them soon. I have made a few changes to my 1/6th. Check out the thread.
