V8 swap in XJ..Who fabricates mounts???
« on: 12/20/05 - 07:58PM »
Guys, I think I am going to go the Ford route and install a 302 in my XJ Cherokee.  I am needing to find someone who fabs motor mounts.  I may also need a trans mount.  Let me know if anyone knows anyone.

Thanks

You can't do it without the motor sitting where you want it.  What I mean is unless someone has a motor and your cherokee, they can't fabricate the mounts.  I "could" do it, but not without the Xj and the motor.  Custom placement and everything comes into play. I put a 350/400/300 in my old XJ (never finished it) but had it all mocked up and did my CJ with the same setup.  Both times used motor mounts that were prefabbed for ease.  Trust me it is worth buying them from a shop that has already engineered them for swaps.

I cut sheetmetal for free.  It's fixing it that get's expensive.

Hey Phillip,
I bought my engine mounts at advanced adapters.
Real nice mounts about $150
I can show them to you when you come get the motor and axles.
