Title: SMORR: Saturday, July 25
Post by: doubleJ on 07/14/15 - 07:57PM
Since my last trip was cancelled (http://www.jeepthing.org/forum/index.php?topic=12662.0), I'm rescheduling for the 25th.

Another trip to SMORR.
Another broken Jeep.

Wheeling is becoming an expensive hobby.
Hehehe...

I think I bottomed-out one of my shocks.
The bar, that goes through the top eye, bent and came off.
The shock seems to be fine.
But, because of that, there was no limit to the distance, between the axle and frame.
The must have spread enough to let the spring pop out.
It was sandwiched between my axle, frame, and tire.
I drove, a little ways, but it was rubbing a ring on the inside of the tire.
It's fixed, now, but I had to leave the Jeep in Seymour.

I'm not sure it's even a named trail, but there is a rocky hill next to Ranch Road.
There is a clearing, next to the stream, that's a common rest point.
If you're going up Ranch Road, it's just to the right (between Rocker Knocker and Ranch Road).
I think that's where it happened.

Well heck at least it sounds like a fairly easy fix----glad it wasn't more serious. I'll be at SMORR Labor day weekend, if you get a chance come on out.
