REBUILDING TRANNY
« on: 06/25/07 - 02:50PM »
I'm rebuilding an AX-15 to swap in replacement of my AX-5 (Dakota bellhousing, blah blah blah).  Anyway, to those of you who may or may not do this for a living, is it standard procedure to replace the synchros, even if they're well within specs?  Other than a couple of bearings, and needing to be cleaned, this things in excellent shape, but I don't want to whish I had done anything down the road.  Thanks to those who reply.

Since your putting it behind a cummins I would probably opt for a full rebuild.  Why have any questionable parts when you'll be pushing the limits of the trans.

So I say put in new synchros.

So, you remembered. Thanks for the info. I just know that sometimes they shift kind of hard right off because of new sincros, if the old ones weren't bad and I reused them, atleast I'd know it wasn't them causing me troubles, if I had any.  I'll take your advice though.
