MOROC Woods Racing Event results
« on: 09/11/06 - 04:30AM »
The event was amazing.  These 12 competitors ran so hard words just won't do justice.  You may just have to wait for the pictures and the DVD video.  Competitors broke, but still finished their courses limping, there were a couple of rollovers, and there was plenty of carnage to vehicles and drivers.  I don't believe a single vehicle made it through the weekend unscathed.  Of course, this was the event of all events.  Although we had 2 new teams who were in just to win the event, most teams had a lot more at stake.

The weekend consisted of basically 4 events combined into 1.  The 4 events consisted of the State Championship Woods Race, a (make-up) Wild Card Woods Race, a Rockcrawling Competition, and 1 Finale Rockcrusher Shootout course.  It was a very long weekend for all, but the overall outcome was a success.

The carnage this weekend was like no other.  The teams launched their rigs in the air, crashed into trees and down steep hills and ravines.  They climbed steep hills, traversed through rocks, drove long and technical courses up to 3 miles long.  They even hit some small shallow mud holes.  These teams truly abused their rigs and tested all new limits.  Particular carnage I can recall:
John Loyd broke his arm on the first course.  (Had is hand on the roll bar while he laid into a tree)  Came back from the hospital a couple hours later and cheered for the other drivers.  Tom Rawlings Drove his rig the rest of the day.  Ended up breaking on the ?stupid? course otherwise known as course 17.
Tom Rawling broke a driveshaft.
Travis Cook popped a tire on the rockcrusher shootout course.
Jamie Sitzes broke a d35 on his second course
Ted Stocker received multiple malfunctions to his rig.  Uncluding broken control arm mounts, twisted control arms, tcase skid, steering, and more.
John Markovich laid his jeep over at the start of course 16 and then turtled his jeep at the turn around on course 1.
Louie Keener is one who truly put on a good show.  Although I don?t know all the carnage to list, here is a good start.  Lost rear spring and spacer in the middle of course 16, the 2.5 mile course.  Busted both rear shocks and shock mounts.  Broke off the front track bar at least twice? once about ? of the way through course 12 and again sometime during course 14?.He completed both courses w/o a front track bar.
Keith Fritzmeyer busted a steering box on his first course.  But he came back for more abuse the second day.

Ballzout Motorsports would like to thank Moroc, Media Werks, FLat Nasty, and all others who have put time and effort into bringing a series of racing to this area where we can all compete and have a great time.   Thanks to Nathan and his family and all the judges.

We had a ball.  Never a dull moment and the courses were some of the hairiest I have run.  Man the 6A hill climb was nuts.  We ran everything Just like our name says Ballzout but the stock parts after wheeling for 4 years just couldn't handle the abuse but with some cowboy engenering and not so much brains we still finished out the courses and never had to call for breakdown time.

THe park at Flat Nasty is awsome Ron and the gang have done a great job of marking trails, building, and are true lovers of this sport.  Hell 5 minutes after I got there I was on my side at baby bear and never had to be winched or strapped just drove right out of it and to the top.

We will be there next year and watch out it will have new parts and we will be trying to catch team Crush.

See yas on the trails.
