CIS degree holder here also.  Wife too.  I don't really get off on computers (not a gamer, not a builder), but I do it for a living.

So 95_XJ, what sort of nerdly activities do you engage in?  Work or hobby?  Web design, applications programming, network engineering type stuff?  I'm an install programmer with JHA in Monett.  I get enough of it at work really so my PC at home is lightly used these days.  I haven't opened Netbeans in almost a year and it's getting close to that for the abandoned VB project I had going.

i just do little stuff in Photoshop CS. nothing pro and nothing major. My main point was my computer is my life outside of school. I use my computer at least 8 hours a night. i was also saying that my dad is a graphics designer/photographer so my house is filled with Macs and other assorted gadgets. I used to do some work for him during soccer season but he doesn't need my assistance an more. Also i like to use names; mine is Jake or Jacob which ever. What's yours?

Very cool Jake.  Macs?  Well, I suppose we can still be friends.   :biggrin:   They really are excellent for publishing and graphics work.  Crappy business machines.  I was at a bank last year that had a branch that had 6 PCs and one Wintel server, everything else in the building wa a Mac.  God that was horrible.

Last time I was on a machine for 8 hours on my own time I was in school.  But then again that wasn't my own time.

I'm a graphic arts major at C of O. I like macs now, but still dabble in the PC realm. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign- Got those all down really well. Want to learn GoLive.  hooray for html code.

yeah html code scares me...programing does also..i give big props to my brother because he's getting his maters in computer science and the stuff he's doing is so confusing to me i can't hardly look at it.
