Royal Purple for diff's

I need to change the differential fluid in my '98 TJ & was thinking of using Royal Purple. Has anyone changed over to this & if so what type would be recommended?

I've always used Royal Purple in my Rubicon... When I change the fluid in the 60's on the Jeep I have now; they'll get Royal Purple as well. AMSOIL is another that comes highly recommended, but I've never used it myself.

Jimmy DO NOT put Royal Purple in those axles! 
  The tech guys at Eaton will tell you that it will junk a detroit locker, they design for el cheapo gear oil.

For normal open there is nothing you need to do to swap to Royal Purple or Amsoil, simply spray the housing out with cover off and reinstall.

whats RP cost nowdays? 15-20 bucks a quart? I say run the regular castrol stuff,(5bucks a quart) I like it and it does ok for me. As much as us wheelers screw around with our diffs and replace fluids it should do just fine.

Yeah, I've stuck with Castrol for years, I'll probably just stay with it. Recommendation is for 80W90 GL5 for both front & rear.

he was saying RP is not okay for Detroit lockers.. I'm saying it is okay for Rubi lockers since I ran it in my Rubicon for 4 1/2 years.

Yes RP is required for RUBI air lockers.  I put fresh in when I got it from jimmmy
