Title: Trailer modification needed....Help!
Post by: ford381stroker on 09/ 9/06 - 09:37PM
Here is the trailer I have.  TanYJ is interested in it.  If he purchases this trailer I will not mod it.  If for some reason he doesn't, I would just like to do my research ahead of time.

Can I cut the rails off of the sides of this trailer and it still keep the same strength?  I don't know if these kind of trailers need the rails to help support the trailer and keep it from tweaking.

I can't roll up on it with the 38's on the Toyota but I could if I could cut the rails off.

Any advice or wisdom would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

This is how close the truck is to fitting.  The wheels are 14" wide but I am only lacking 2-3" clearance on each side of the trailer.

I would not cut the rail off. on that style of trailer they are part of the support. look at the frame bellow the wood. I bet you will find it is just angle. that is all you will have left to support the weight of you rig
