turns over slow, hard to start
« on: 05/ 9/09 - 05:27PM »
I can get it to start but it acts like the battery is nearly dead. Slow turning NO CODES
200TJ 4.0 auto
If I push the gas and keep it revved it'll stay running until I let off the gas pedal.
After it is warmed up a little it will stay running on its own, but if I turn it off it still has a hard time starting again????
I let it run about an hour today then shut off and restarted with the same problem.

NEW
-Battery
-Alternator
-TPS
-cleaned and dielectric greased all connections
-starter was removed and tested good at parts store.

I vote for the starter getting weak. How close is it to the exaust manifolds?

it is on the right side of the motor.the exaust is on the left side.

It must be that mega compression of your over built motor! ;)

I hope you get it figured out soon so it wont potentially leave you stranded on the trail somewhere.

If you turn the key into the on position for a few seconds before starting does it fire faster?
