Hood Louvers?
« on: 06/ 8/09 - 05:42AM »
I am building my 4.0 stroker in my Xj and would like to put a set of hood louvers on her, problem is I can't find any. I like the ones on my dad's 5.9 i have had to restrain from runing off with his for fear of my life. Know of anywhere that would have 5.9 style louvers? or any close to that?

I have Gen Right on my XJ. Real easy, cut a hole, drill a few holes, rivit it in place

Hood Temps are stable. They were high and the vents stablized them.
Best pic I have without taking one is attached:

yes you can mount anywhere you want. You cut the goles, then drill the mount holes, then put in rivits

Before You go Cuttin Holes in your Hood think about this.... Hood louvers do give a lil breathability to the Engine compartment! but Louvers are made to Force air in the Comparment Right??? If you are on the trail at 5mph. where are hood louvers gonna come into play? Yes It does give another Access for Hot air to Exit the compartment. But when you are rolling at 5 MPH No air can Leave and a Lil bit comes in! If you are mainly driving on the street.... Thats a good call But on the trail I see No Benfit and Have seen it done and they saw no Benefit.....On teh Trail that is!
Just My 2 Cents!!!

that is true I have thought about that, but I have not really taken my Jeep out on a trail yet sadly, I kinda scared to brake my daily driver after how much i have repaired on her, i guess i could do like a light trailing huh? And the vents would give her a kinda hot rody look too, But i do get where your going, thanks!
