a sensor, bad gas, water in gas, could be alot of things... .. Take it to Autozone and they will pull codes on it for free.

I'd say fuel filter.

Autozone can only pull codes once it throws a CEL, even then pre OBD II computers give pretty vague descriptions. Start simple, double check all your plugs to make sure they are tight, plug wires, wiring harness on the fuel injector etc.

a bad coil or rotor cap will not throw a code.

replace the fuel filter first it,s cheap and most likely will fix your problem...when you take it off find a small container and drain the filters gas into it..I'm thinking you do have water in the filter..You will see water in the container if it has. good luck

Try replacing the Crank Positioning Sensor. Had one that did that and I could unplug and plug the wiring into it and it would work. But, crawling under it to do it wasn't fun.
