80 CJ Tranny

Call me retarted if you like...  I am looking at an 80' CJ that has a bad tranny, all I know it's a manual and has a 6 banger, what tranny does it likely have in it and how much would one cost?  Thanks

Looks like you need a t-176 tranny.

Not sure what is is with this, if it is the transmission + bell housing or what... but if so, watch that aution and you'll get an idea of what one will cost.

could also be a t18 or a t4 I might be wrong but I think the t18 was still used in 80. the t4 was primarily a 4cld tranny but it did find its way into some 6cld's. there are local places as well to get a tranny replacement or rebuilt ones

Anyway, try Clements Salvage in Branson.  They may have a tranny for you.
