Title: Alaskan Roadtrip
Post by: snowcat on 02/19/12 - 06:19PM
Hello OJT members!

I was wondering if I could get some advice for a possible (and likely one-way) road trip to Anchorage in about mid-March.  My Libby is almost as stock as it gets and I looking to add some winter options to make the trip a bit less problematic.  I've been looking at different battery blankets, oil pan heaters, personal locator beacons (just in case), emergency gear, and the like.  Do any of you have any recommendations for a long duration trip like this?  I picked up a copy of the 2011 Milepost and it's VERY helpful for locating year-round fuel and lodging stops, but it falls a little short in the winter travel prep category.  Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Also, I would like to video-log the entire trip and I'm looking for a time-lapse camera that I can mount to the windshield.  I'm considering the GoPro HD Hero2 (http://"http://gopro.com/hd-hero2-cameras/").  Does anyone use this camera or something like it?

Thanks
