I like your flat bed design.
-
Thanks. I figured you chime in since your the only other non-jeep guy that seems to frequent the board.
-
Looks good there

:barf:
Just kidding!
Those are some massive boomerang shackles there. What size tube is that? It looks huge compared to 1-3/4" in other pics. I figured with your height, you'd have to get an extended cab and move the driver's seat to the back.

It's 2" OD. I ordered 1 3/4 but 2" is what they sent me. So i borrowed a die and used it. Had to have the big boomerangs. Those springs are to long for the amount of frame i had left once they were weighted by bed. My pinion angle was also in the dirt so this was how i chose to fix both of those problems. they are 2" longer than stock.

I like it. Lookin good.

:beerchug: so when you bringing it down?
-
Well i have a lot to do still.
Gotta fab up steering, finish bed, make rear shock mounts, front shaft, and cut fenders.
I'm thinking it will be down after spring break. Gonna do trial run at rockport before hauling it all the way down here.
Maybe Brad (if he gets done) will go wheeling with me when i bring it down? :beerchug:

you don't happen to have any more toyota parts layin around do ya? I am looking for some wiring harness parts door panels etc. if you know a junk yard where i can get some of the parts please let me know.
thanks

About 3 weeks ago I hauled everything to the scrap yard. Including an xcab 2wd truck with complete harnass... but no parts now.
-
the cage looks good
-
what scrap yard? I am still trying to find more toyota parts
-
Just a local yard back home. They don't keep anything it's all scrapped within a week. Need yotaparts check out pirate or wildyoats.
-
would you be willing to talk about toyota suspension and give me some pointers on how to get more flex out of mine. Where did you get your rear springs?
-
Sure I'll answer any ?'s you've got.
For rear I ran late 80's Ford 1/2 ton springs. They are 56"ers so not as long as common chevy 63's but flexed very well. I went with older springs so they would only be 2.5" wide as opposed to later model ford which is 3" wide, for which I would have had to redo the perches etc.
For front springs I ran 4"BDS lift springs for a YJ. They gave me about 5.5" of lift and flexed well.
