GURU HELP

Carl I need help. How can I tell what trans. is in my jeep. It is a 78 cj 7 auto with quad trac. Also can i just change the transfer case and if so what kind do I need to get and where can i get one and what will it cost me?? Thanks DAvid

 I think you can put a dana 300 behind it but you will need an adapter

carl is that correct about the 300. I would like to get rid of the quad. and the 300 is a tuff case.

Forked - you can run a 300 behind your 400, but you will have to get the adaptor from John's.  It will also require you to get a new main shaft for your tranny to match the splines on the input of the 300.  I have mine in and it cost less than 250, which AA and Novak wanted twice that.
I cut sheetmetal for free.  It's fixing it that get's expensive.
