Waggy 44 Question
« on: 03/ 2/08 - 11:08PM »
Can I cut the cast in spring perch off to expose more of the tube, or will I just have to work around it.  I don't see any reason I can't as long as I don't go past any of the plug welds.  Any thoughts on this?

Why are you grinding it off?  Your putting in your XJ, which would mean put coil buckets etc on the top.  So why grind the bottom?

I'm talking about cutting it all the way around.
I think that is what this guy did in the first post.

The reason would be so I could use some brackets like this.

This may not be needed, but if I compare my 30 to this there is about 1-1.5" more exposed tube on the 30.  That is why I think I may need more room to work.

Personally I wouldn't mind grinding down the perch, but I wouldn't try to trim down the whole side were the tube goes in.  At least not without being willing to truss it to regain strength.
