Long Arm Kit

What's the best bang for the buck 6" Long Arm kit out there...

I'm leaning towards the Full Traction set up.

Since you already have most of the other components but arms and skid why not just piece on together?

I've used their rebuildable joints before and they are definately the best stuff i've used.  I would use them again over any of the other stuff out there.

I want a full 6" suspension system... would like to lose the 2" body kit I have which would put me back down to 4" ... not going to happen. :agree: Since I would need new springs, their not really anything I can salvage from my current lift.

OK, I didn't figure you would want to take the body lift back off.

You may also look at www.rockkrawler.com  They make some really good stuff as well with competitive prices.

Hey we just added pipe to my re short arms and they seem to be holding up.  You can also just build your own.  Depends on what you want.  A bolt on kit or something that you can say you helped design.

Jimmy do you want a complete bolt on kit or are you willing to have to do some welding?

Cutting is required for all of them...

Well I am no fabricator, or do I have the tools for that... so I guess I'll be going with market goods. I'd feel alot better going with a purchased kit for warranty and daily driver with kids in tow safety reasons.

The guy at Heritage told me that if it's welded on. it'll void the warranty, but bolt on was okay. Now how that'll hold up if I ever have a claim.. I'm  not sure. IN reality, I don't really care about the warranty, it's just something holding me back as far as I see it. It's a jeep, if it breaks, just build it better... if you have the money.

Yeah I forget about warrenty stuff.  THey voided mine after I drove off the lot.  So I don't even think about them anymore.  As far as safety goes I would rather have somthing welded than bolted but that is just me.  So you need a kit that won't void the warrenty and gives you six inches.  Most of the kits that I remember you have to cut and relocate arm mounts which means welding.  Which means voided warrenty.  RE might have there long arm built into the skid plate but I don't recall.  Hell wheel it like it is you have keep up with us so far.  Let me know what you decide on.  Shane has a buddy that is running full traction kit and loves it.

Most of the Long arm kits on the market have a mount that goes on the skid which the arms mount to.  You will have to cut off the old short arm mounts.

However if you look at rockkrawler they offer different variatons, a "bolt on" with the rear axle or a weld on.

I would definitely rather have weld on too. You know it'll stay.

I'm $600 away from the full traction 6 inch kit. well just the kit alone that is... I'll have to get a new exhaust and drive shaft to, but seen on place offering a free exhaust system with any new lift, but only till October 31st. I don't think I can squeeze it by then, and I'm dead set on paying cash vs. credit.

You guys know I'll be enlisting help...

Well after sleeping on it and debating, I guess a long arm kit is not really where I need to go right now...plus I'm further away money wise and the jeep funds burning a whole in my pocket... I got the jeepsickness bad guys.

I'm going to use the money to tweak what I have, a rear adjustable track bar is all I really need to fix the on-road squirrlies that I have (I'm pretty much used to it now). Shanes got a nice Mile Marker out at Safari OffRoad for $650, kinda kicken that around, I'm having a flowmaster put on out at Auto Performance Specialist (these guys are great and do great work) on Republic today, their going to weld up my cracked axle bracket too while their at it, debating a cold air intake, but just took the horn off my air box to see how that does first, I've read that the stock air already provides more than the straight 6 needs and the restriction is in the muffler not the air intake  any thoughts on that ??? , Throttle body spacer is on the way, going to get the rear upper and lower adjustable control arms so I can hopefully lose the t-case dropkit and gain some clearance there (don't think I'll need an extended drive shaft), I bought some hella rally 500's to put on, and stuck on the windshield frame but didn't like em there so took them back off and am not sure where to mount them now, got some rock lights for underneath (cause everyones looked really cool on the last night run), hopefully I get those on before the night run this weekend.

Tossing around a poison spyder Trail Cage and Corners, but the money is running out fast.

You're wheeling a very capable rig, atm, why not just sit on the cash?  But if you want an awsome winch, look at the Warn 8274-50 with the wireless remote.  My warn is 20 years old, and still cranking.

I know it's capable, I got the sickness man and can't stop wanting things, to make it better.

My axles haven't been right since I got it lifted.. I've dealt with it, but would like to get them right.. and I am sooo tired of the giant shovel/rock scoop underneath. So my plan is to get the rear axle centered and lined out, lose the t-case drop kit... and eventually go with a flat skid (I pretty sure I need an extended driveshaft for that) ... then later I'll get adjustable arms for the front and after I wear out these 4 inch springs I can get 6"ers, shocks and brake lines and keep the rest of the components as is... and lose the 2in body kit.  sheeze! I need a project jeep.

I would love to buy a warn winch, but they are soooo expensive. I would think any of the brands will give you good service if you take care of them.
