Title: Project Sanchez
Post by: YJ_Aaron on 09/11/11 - 12:22PM
So a new project has begun for a few of us.  Yes I know it's not a jeep.  The theme for this project was get a buddy back on the trail and wheeling!  Now that's not hard but the next part is, ON A NON-EXISTENT BUDGET!

So for old members some may no the basis of the name.  A flashback to our old friend Dicks chevy (aka sanchez).  Now this isn't Dicks truck it's Bobby's but the name works!

So we start here:  A random C.L. ad for a running driving dodge 4x4.  $500 and 4hrs of misadventure later we have it on the trailer and headed towards home.  The pics from night 1 didn't turn out since my smartphone lacks a flash but oh well.  The pics below are Day 1, removing some of the redneck.  FRONT BUMPER!

So today we got the rig close:
Welded up the 9.25 rear axle.
Fresh fluids in most places.
Cleaned up the paint & trimmed some body panels
Installed CB
Built Recovery Points front and rear (yes the rear is crooked bobby shakes sorry)
Gutted most of the nastiness out of the interior
Mounted up the 35's.

Here is Mr. Sanchez going back on the trailer.

A little late, but thanks to Aaron, Clint, Jen, Hunter, and my dad for helping get Sanchez up and going, and to everyone else who has donated parts along the way.

Aaron, I can't believe you didn't get a pic of the "custom" front bumper on it LOL

Trip Report:

Sanchez did well for it's first trip out.  Had to do some carb adjustments after first trail.  Day ended early for Sanchez when an off camber broke the jbolts holding the battery and allowed it to fall into the fan.  This caused catastrophic failure of the battery.

So Sanchez got drug to the trailer with a battery box on order it will ride again.
