Hey everyone.
I have been working on rebuilding my np231 transfer case the last 6 months as money allows. Recently was able to buy a slip yoke eliminator kit for it and now I want to really clean up the main case halves. Otherwise they won't match the new rear output/speedo housing that came with my sye kit. Looking for some advice on what to use to bring back that new aluminum look and preserve it.

Thanks for any and all advice.

We use dye grinders with a scuff pad to clean them up and then paint them.

If you have access to a portable sandblaster, turn the pressure down just enough to cut the crud. Tape off every open port. Then clear or paint over the freshly cleaned surface. I have done that on bracketry and it looks nice for a long time.

It's the information I'm looking for as well.
