Title: YJ Build
Post by: JEEPOLANTERN on 08/25/09 - 12:45AM
Alright guys here is the latest and greatest on my 91 YJ! We pulled the 30 and the 35 out over the weekend and got started installing a 44 in the front with an air locker and a Toyota 8" in the rear with a lock right.  I will have it on 35" Swamper SX's.  Will have more pics after this weekend hope to have it back on tires after Sunday.  Thanks to Aaron, Bobby and Dewayne for all of their help over last weekend, couldn't have got as much done without them.  Below is the link to all of the pictures on photobucket.

BS... next step is finishing what we've already started.

Nice pic of Hunter, gotta love child labor.

We will get it finished amigo, just gotta wait for all my parts to hit!  I should have the high steer arms hopefully in the next day or so and then I can get the knuckles drilled and tapped.  Then we will be moving right along.  The majority of the stuff came in for the rear today.  Just have to get the brake lines squared away and some other little stuff and she will be sitting pretty good.

I'm sure we have some late nights ahead but it will be worth it when it is out wheeling again.  I'll keep posting up pics as I get some good ones.

Looks good Clint.  What year Toy axle is that?

I could be done with my 44 swap if I had leaf springs. :78:

87 V6
I was going to say that it looked narrower than mine.  Is he going to use wheel spaces or anything on the rear?  Isn't the width like 56"?

Post by: YJ_Aaron on 08/25/09 - 01:15PM
87 IFS rears are 58" WMS to WMS, kinda hard to judge in the pic with NO axles or drums on it.

Either run 1" spacers if he doesn't like the width or leave it.  I'd leave it as I like rear axles narrower than fronts.

Yeah the generation before that is the shorter one.

kinda hard to judge in the pic with NO axles or drums on it.

I've got good eyes. :icon_eek:

Yes the 85 and older are 2" narrower than that.

Having it a little narrower should help the turning radius anyway so I will probably just leave it the way it is for now.

Hey Clint, if you need the ball joint socket let me know, I bought one to use for my 44.

Boy someone should really paint those springs, frame, etc. Looks like crap next to that new axle.

man it does look like HDS.  Get some paint man!  :P or rub some dirt on the new...

You read my mind fellas, I'm cleaning the frame tonight and getting ready to shoot it so it doens't look like d.s. Aaron just wants to brag on his paint skills, but if I hadn't bought good paint it would look like crap, ask him about the paint Bobby bought for his knuckles that he tried to shoot before I gave him some good s--t

really it's not gonna matter after you wheel it a couple times... it'll all match.

Coming from the ex-Rubicon owner that spent a crap load of time cleaning and painting his old Jeep under carriage.

Well I'll update for Clint since he's slacking.

Rear axle is in, needs brake lines.
Knuckles assembled with new ball joints, and some pimp HI-Steer arms
SYE put in 231 and reinstalled
Driveshaft ordered

Still need to assemble the front axle outers (and 1 shaft I'm slacking on)
Brake lines
Make steering
Install Drive Shafts
Install new Skyjacker Hydro shocks

All this before Saturday morning!

We're actually working when in the garage, so it won't take 2 years (in fact only 3 weeks).

Thanks to Matt, Aaron, Bobby, Dewayne, Ross and everybody else that has come by to help!  Hopefully we will have it ready to hit the trailer and go get the cage built tomorrow. I will try to get some more pics up tonight after we get some stuff done, I took some last night just haven't posted them up yet.

Alright guys the jeep is loaded on Aaron's trailer and getting ready to get the cage put in!!  I have a bunch of pics I'm loading into photobucket now for those that complained about no pics.  I will have some more to post next weekend when it gets back from the shop.  Had a slight problem with the drivers front brake line when we were loading it, but other than that it did ok.  So, I will have a little bit of finish work to do when it gets back from the cage install, but I will have it ready to go for Hot Springs!!  Thanks again to everybody that donated their time, it is really appreciated and it would'nt of gotten done without you guys no names required you know who you are.
Thanks,
Clint

Whose high steer arms are those?
What size heims did you use on the steering?

No problem Jimmy!

The heims are QA1's that I bought from Jeg's, the size is 5/8's.  The arms are from a guy on E-bay that Aaron found for me they were real reasonable.  All I did was clear them and put them on with an ARP stud kit from Sky Manufacturing.  I will see if I have his information and post it up later.
