Socket replacement
« on: 05/21/10 - 04:09PM »
I think the socket for my passenger side turn signal is corroded and not making good contact. The turn signal portion works, the marker light portion is not.

Before I cut it off and splice a new one in, is there another option I'm missing?

Did you try a different bulb?
Have you checked the blinker fluid level lately?
Have you changed to summer blinker fluid yet?
Have you pee'd on the socket to dissolve the corrosion?
Did you fill the gas tank with E85?
Did you pee in my gas tank?
I'd put something funny here, but you probably wouldn't get it anyway...

Did you try a different bulb? New bulbs.
Have you checked the blinker fluid level lately? Was a little low, but now full.
Have you changed to summer blinker fluid yet? It's old summer blinker fluid.
Have you pee'd on the socket to dissolve the corrosion? Not yet (did try brake cleaner, however
Did you fill the gas tank with E85? Probably
Did you pee in my gas tank? I'm considering it.

That should answer.

It actually started to work today. I took it for a drive up the road to clear some of the old gas out. Hit the signal to turn back onto my road and it was blinking at the normal speed (previously had been blinking twice as fast, like the bulb was out). Checked it later when Kim got home and both the marker and turn signal portion were working.

I pretty sure the perps who broke into Keith's Jeep already pee'd in his tank.  :P
