Tire Swing Gate

The Rubicon I just got has aftermarket wheels on it and on the spare.  The spare sticks out far enough on swing gate that it doesn't touch the bumpers.  Anyone know how to rig it so it will hit the bumpers on the swing gate and avoid putting too much stress on the gate?

If I remember right I put some spacers--washers under the bumpers to space them out.
