Jeep Cherokee dying at a stop
« on: 04/24/16 - 11:34PM »
I need some help. I have a 1996 Cherokee Country that after driving for about 30 minutes will die after I come to a complete stop. It's an electrical issue, not a fuel issue. Last time it died I was at Higher Standard Offroad and they helped me discover it wasn't getting spark after it died. After I let it sit for a while and cool down it will randomly decide to start again. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes, sometimes it takes an hour. I swapped the throttle body and all the sensors attached to it from my 97 wrangler because I know they are good. It's not the IAC, Throttle position, or Air Intake temp. I also swapped the injectors from the Wrangler. It gets plenty of fuel and fuel rail pressure. I wiggled the wiring harness and plugs on the computer to make sure it wasn't just a bad connection or a short somewhere. It's like something is getting hot and either not working or tripping the Auto Shutdown Relay.

Best guess would be cam sensor or crank position sensor.
