So, I have a couple of really nice Waggy frames and several sets of Wag Diffs (Also an FSJ  Chero frame and axles).  I am going to use a set of D44's on my Commando and have an idea what I would like to do, though I thought I would throw the idea out there to see what you think.

I think the Wide track Chero axles are too wide since I am not going ape with 40" plus tires.  Any pics of CJ's with these Jtruck or WT Chero axles?

So, if I relocate the spring pads on the axles, I will have to pay a specialist to do it right.  Pretty common.

I could also put the frame "boxes" to use the stock width axles.  I could probably handle most of this and pass it on to a prowelder buddy of mine.

My primary thought is to shorten the Wag frame 5 inches and fab some body mounts to mount the Commando bod to the Wag frame.  I could do most of this myself as well.

Why do the latter?  I would not have to worry about any suspension, driveline or steering issues, except for shortening the rear prop shaft.  I would have beefier springs to handle the Winch, bumpers and such I will be adding.  If anything ever goes wrong there are a lot more parts Waggies out there then there are Commandos!  Unlike the CJ's there is almost NOTHING out there made for Commandos.

What do you think?
