Replacement Gas Tank ???
« on: 07/ 9/06 - 11:10AM »
I just received a new plastic gas tank for my 75. The original steele tank had a couple of mounting holes and a bracket that allowed the tank to be bolted to the Jeep. The replacement is plastic and doesn't have such mounting brackets. What is going to hold the new tank in place?

Thanks

Who'd you get the tank from?
I'd put something funny here, but you probably wouldn't get it anyway...

Windrock's web page say:

     # This tank is an exact fit for 1976-1977. It will also fit 1972-1975 but requires OEM style skid plate

     http://www.windrockoffroad.com/PART/MTS.0050/index.htm

If in fact that is the tank you ordered, evidently you require the skid plate to hold it in?  No idea, but may be a good place to start.

That's exactly what I got.....

After a little more research - I found someone else who purchased the same tank and skid plate.  I knew that the skid place supported the tank, but now I find that I need to strap the tank to the plate - since the original tank didn't require the strap, I didn't order it - but by next weekend, it should be installed and I'll be backo on the (off)road.

Thanks
