TOO WINDY
« on: 09/28/06 - 08:49AM »
This may be an age old question, but it's new to me.  I've been in my jeep for about 2 months now (1st time owner), thanks for the applause.  Anyway, when I reach mach-1 (60mph), a strange phenominon accurs.  My upper section of the half doors begin to push out, as much as 3/4" at the top.  It's as though a tornado is trying to suck them off my rig.  If anyone's interesed in solving my dilema, I'd appreciate it.  I'm driving a 94 yj, with a best top that's about 3yrs old (in excellent shape otherwise).

It's part of the jeeps "constant fresh air system".  It allows you to smoke, or pass gas without the fumes lingering inside the jeep.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Jeeps!  I hope to see you at the 4xfest.

Open your door, grab the top of the window frame and bend it in a little. This will put more pressure against the seal, and should help some.

It's just one of those jeep things you learn to deal with.  Only time it really bothers me is when its' snowing.

I actually did try bending the frame.  Didn't work.  The gromett holes are very tight, so that's not the problem.  Maybe if I attached a vacuum cleaner to the hood and stuck the hose to the cab in order to create a vacuum to keep them sucked tight? Ha Ha  If this is a common problem, I"m a little dissapointed that there's not a common solution.  Although I would prefer to ride topless,  the wife prefers otherwise, and I'm just glad she likes to ride, so I'll try to keep her happy.

I know this guy, he is a bit of a freak about this kind of thing. I have a solution this will take some help from the wife when you leave. Oh ya and a roll of duck tape. you get in and have here wrap duck tape over and under until you have a tight seal that you are happy with then simply enter and exit out the rear of the jeep. Weclome to jeep life need any more help let me know. Besides I told you it just part of own a cool ride.
