Just finished axle replacement
« on: 01/19/07 - 08:12PM »
Last week I finished my second axle replacement job. Last year I put the axles, transmision and transfer out of a 1982 Waggy under my 76 CJ7. A few weeks ago a friend of mine asked me to put a set in his 74 CJ5. I took a set of 44s out of late 70s J10 and checked bearings and relaced the seals. then I outboarded the front springs and put it all uner the little jeep. When I did mine it REALLY improved the handling. It drives better and turns in about a third of the area that it did before. Chris's Jeep showed at least the same if not more improvement. He called me on the way home when he picked it up and said that this was the first time he could talk on the phone while driving. It took longer to re-do the 44s that to put them under it. I'm looking forward to do another one.

I'll try to get some. I didn't take any when I was working on them. My bad.
