Pros:  More stable offroad, larger selection of stronger axles, I prefer the look.

Cons:  wider makes some trails harder to navigate.

alot harder to get down tighter trails! and unless you plan on stetching it quite a bit it would look awfully funny.

Allen told me you are wanting to upgrade, you should look into a ford 8.8 with the super 88 kit. then go HP dana 30 with alloy shafts up front.

this is what i plan on doing over the winter and early spring.

Why do you say they look funny not stretched?  Mines full width and with a 13.5" wide tire it still not very wide.  It's all about the B.S. on the wheels.

I'm not saying wheel mounting surface.  I'm talking total track width.  Outside to outside of front tires.  WMS doesn't really add up to anything since total width can be adjusted with different wheels.

appears my tape measure is MIA. So I'll have to get back to you. I'll measure outside tire to outside tire. But I'm thinking it's every bit of 78"

My Jeep from outside tire to outside tire is:

79"

That's with 15x10 TR Beadlocks and 35" Krawlers.  NO wheel spacers.
